The Industrial Sector

The electricity is one of God's blessings on human beings. It is today the backbone of the modern commerce and the first requirement for development to every community seeking advance and progress to its people. Our cherished Kingdom has witnessed significant growth in production and distribution of electric power due to the growth of different governmental sectors, infrastructure enlargement, and citizens increasing income levels. 

Despite the importance of this energy, that reaches our working places easily and is counted on in all different aspects of our daily lives, we find that most of us consume it in a wrong way and thus squander it daily. 

Studies have shown that the rate of annual energy waste in Saudi Arabia is 45% which is an average that threats our lives and the future of our generations unless it is restored by all means and ways possible to achieve optimal guidance of our electric consumption. 

These reasons, all together, motivated the Ministry of Water and Electricity to commence the National campaign for electric consumption guidance aspiring the response of every citizen and resident with the guidance, and their contribution .by following the correct behaviors when using the electric power

Energy conservation is a religious demand and national duty and civilized behavior

The maintenance of electrical energy and not wasting or squandering it is considered one of the most important Islamic and Patriot demands which encourages and urges on this maintenance. "He who when spend did not waste nor skimp was between that strength"

And God said" Eat and drink and waste not by excess, He does not love the wasteful"," do not squander since squanders are Brothers of devils, and Satan was ungrateful to his Lord"  

The religious requirement in ensuring the maintenance of God's blessings was matched by national requirement requesting us to handle electricity perfectly since it is considered national treasure and everyone is demanded to commit in all the instructions leading to the guidance of this great source of energy

The effects of excessive use of electricity

The excessive use of electricity represents one of the plagues that negatively :reflects our community. Some of its effects are

Increased costs of billing for subscribers across the residential sector due to increased consumption.

.The difficulty of delivering service to new subscribers whom are in dire need

The decreasing reliability on service due to possible interruption because of stress on the system and increased electrical loads especially at the time of .the peak

  An increase in fuel consumption, which negatively affects the environment with increased emission of toxic gases due to combustion.

Wasting amounts of energy that can be saved and hence better used.

Internal combustion systems

Internal combustion systems is one of the most important labor regulations and the most commonly used in the industrial sector in the Kingdom, as much as this system benefits from speed of performance, it results in cases of waste from poor management of such systems. Here are some guidelines to help rationalize :the unity of this waste

For a better efficiency of internal combustion systems, and less fuel consumption, the thermal ovens and boilers should be operated as it is .regulated

.To achieve ideal combustion the amount of excess air must be reduced

For better efficiency and longer life, the surfaces of heat exchangers must be .cleaned

Highly efficient thermal insulation must be used to isolate the walls of boilers .and ovens heat

bullet

To raise the efficiency of the combustion process in boilers and ovens, it is .better to heat the air and fuel before combustion

Water vapor generation systems

Many national factories use the water vapor generation method in its daily manufacturing process. Given the benefits achieved by the advanced technology in the manufacturing process, it is advisable to follow the following steps to avoid any waste expected as a result of power generation by steam generation systems:

Water must be treated inside the main boilers to reduce the problems of rust .and sudden rise in temperature, within certain places within the boiler

Cogeneration systems

Cogeneration systems are formed from the merger taking place between both steam and electricity by using the thermal energy of high gas emitted from the combustion process within the turbine. The system is one of the most energy-:efficient systems because it depends on the following features

Ensure high efficiency in fuel consumption.

Reducing the proportion of environmental pollution

Lack of justification of waste electrical

Improve the power factor

Power factor is known as the ratio of effective capacity to the overall capacity, an indication of the efficiency of electric energy consumption in the industrial plant and when this coefficient is low, it would not take full advantage of absorptive capacity, as well as increasing the current passing through the network, resulting in an increase in loss Power and other problems in the internal network in addition to the common public network. This could be improved by using the power factor capacitors installed in parallel with the equipment which :would benefit the following aspects

Further enlargement to the absorptive capacity of the plant

stabilize the network's effort

Reduce the electricity bill by reducing the loss and avoiding fines of low power factor (ie be under the allowable level)

Take advantage of the benefits of changing tariff

Through participating in the program, the variable tariff can be reduced monthly by benefiting from reduced prices outside the peak time (12 o'clock - 5 pm) and decreasing the consumption during the peak hours whenever possible, thus the devaluation of the monthly bill can be done through the means the following:

Modification of the operating hours of the factory

The use of backup generators during peak hours

Shading the outer unit of the conditioner

Lighting

Take advantage of natural light whenever possible

use energy-saving lamps

Turn of the lights when not needed


Distribute the lights lighting on a number of keys, especially in large indoor lighting
